DIY Patterned Skirt

What you need:

* A spray bottle filled with bleach (Yup that's not Lysol its bleach!)

*Fabric markers

* Of course, the clothing item you wish to revamp!

*(Optional) Ruler

Start with spraying the side you want to turn into a pattern with bleach. If you are only wanting to do the front. I strongly suggest you put a piece of cardboard or something thick inside of your clothing! If you want to have a smoother white then fill a container with a bleach/ water mix and let half of it set. I personally like the faded look on the edges so I went with spraying method. It may take a couple sprays and hours to get to the color you want. I sprayed mine late at night and let it the bleach do its work while I slept.

*** Always be cautious with bleach! Wash hands after handling! Protect clothing and the area! ***

This is my skirt after bleaching, washing, and drying! Make sure you wash and dry the item or you could end up bleaching your fabric marker tips!

This step all you need to do is draw vertical lines from top to bottom. I started my lines at the seam on the side. You can use a ruler during this step! Which would have been VERY helpful if could have found mine! Instead, I used a piece of card stock that was cut to size.

Then make slanted horizontal lines in every other row. Make sure you keep them evenly spaced! If you don't it will look messy and you will possibly ruin your garment.

Connect the horizontal lines together with mirrored lines! To do so make more horizontal lines that slant in the opposite direction. Again make sure your lines are evenly spaced!

Now to the fun part! Coloring! I picked two shades of blue and two shades of green (Make sure you can tell the difference between the shades when its on the fabric!) Pick a pattern you find appealing and color your heart out! Finish by going over your black lines to straighten and thicken.

And Wah-Lah! You just turned your clothing into a bold, one of a kind piece that no one has! Now go show it off!
